Was a Hubber Cheerleader ... YEA! We had some winning basketball teams during my time at SHS. I have remained a 'hometown' girl. Married Dean J. Cole (note my maiden name was also Cole so I am all the way a Cole ... LOL) I have been widowed since 1996 when I lost my husband, a United States Marine veteran, to Alzheimer's disease.
We had two daughters. Nadine Kay Cole married Robert Dunn but we lost Nadine to cancer when she was 40. Her husband remarried and he and his new wife Michele still reside in East Smethport. Nadine and Bob had two children, Jeffrey Allen Dunn who has married and lives in Port Allegany, and Jamie Lynn Dunn who lives and works in Erie. Our other daughter, Sandra Ann Cole, married Richard Towner (formerly from Ormsby) and they reside in Lyman, South Carolina. They have two children, Tracie L. Towner and Kaderick Towner who both live in the Carolinas.
I spent my working years as a banker at the old Smethport National Bank, which was known as Producers Bank when I chose to retire after 32 years. My how the banking profession has changed since those years.
I am an active American Legion Auxiliary member , both here in Smethport and at the Department or state level. I am presently serving as Membership chairman. We have over 64,000 members, so this is a BIG job! I am also an active Rebekah member and belong to Eastern Star. I spend many productive hours as an RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) volunteer through the Smethport Senior Center. I am a reader for Head Start and a Study Buddy for the after-school homework group at our Elementary School and sometimes volunteer at Smethport Family Practice.
I may be better known to the younger generations as a 4-H Horse Club leader. I enjoyed over thirty years as a county-wide leader of the McKean County 4-H Rough Riders. During those years, the Rough Riders were the largest 4-H club in McKean County. I enjoy PEOPLE, love to DANCE, and believe that a HUG here and there will cheer anyone's day.
