Athletics was a big part of my days at SHS. I had 10 varsity letters in football, basketball and track. I won the 1951 PA State Championship in the 200-yard Low Hurdles in 23.3 seconds. I accepted a track scholarship to Penn State which culminated in getting All-American Honors in 1955 and setting a new PSU record in the 120-yard High Hurdles of 14.1 seconds. I was ranked 6th nationally in the high hurdles.

After graduation, I worked for IBM, ALCOA, and for 38 years, Phelps Dodge. I was National Sales and Marketing Manager CATV while at Phelps Dodge and retired as Regional Sales Manager in 2001 at Dallas, TX.

I have 4 children, 2 stepchildren and 9 grandchildren all living in north Texas. Smethport created many happy memories which I still treasure.
