Alumni from across the decades gathered for the 1st Annual Smethport Alumni Night on Saturday August 1, 2009 sponsored by www.smethportalumni.com. The turnout for Saturday's festivities topped 300 alumni and guests who partied well into the night to tunes starting in the 1950's and progressing through the decades. Sandwiches, snacks and desserts and a bucket raffle were included in the admission price.
The Classes of 1944, 1959, 1974 and 1979 held their reunion events in conjunction with this event at various locations in town over the weekend. Classes who are planning a reunion for 2010 are encouraged to organize their event around the last weekend in July which is planned to become Alumni Weekend with various activities from Friday to Sunday.
Due to the great success of the event, we raised enough money to merit the creation of an www.smethportalumni.com scholarship. If anyone else would like to donate to this cause, you can contact us at alumni@smethportalumni.com.
