Track is the big sport in the spring of each and every year. The hopefuls come out to try their luck and the experienced members of the squad try to retain their positions on the squad. Most of the boys going out for track have lifted weights and have done exercises for months previous to the opening of practice. Such marks the opening of track season at Smethport Area High School.

The 1964 squad was young and lacked experience. Thus, they lost more meets than they won. This year we hope will be different. With most of last year's squad returning, the track coach, Clarence Strabel, looks for a winning season. The boys are willing to prove his predictions to be true.

The Smethport track team meets such schools as Port Allegany, Bradford, Kane, St. Marys Public, and Elk County Christian. They meet schools from all parts of northwestern Pennsylvania in the District 9 Meet. Last year the Hubbers placed 4th in the rugged competition.
