The Smethport High School Track team of 1955 sustained the tradition of great Hubber teams of the past. A fine all-around team led by Blaine O'Connor, Bob Lathrop, Jim Smith, Larry Moran, Glenn Cunningham, Fred Larson and Rodney Hauck gave the Hubbers a record-breaking fifth consecutive District 9 Class B Championship.

Bob Lathrop and Blaine O'Connor placed in the P.I.A.A. State Meet at Penn State University. Lathrop placed 3rd in the Pole Vault and 4th in the Javelin, while O'Connor came home 3rd in the 440 Yard Dash and 6th in both the 100 Yard Dash and the 220 Yard Dash.

During the season, record-breaking performances were turned in by the following boys:

Bob Lathrop Javelin 169' 6"
Blaine O'Connor 100 Yard Dash 10.2
Blaine O'Connor 220 Yard Dash 22.0
